This year, The Treehouse of Horror will have two separate presentations. The first episode is a parody of Stephen King's IT, but the second special takes us on a tour through three parodies of different horror-themed stories.

First place went to The Babadook, second place went to Westworld, and most surprisingly, third place went to the popular Death Note manga and anime series from Shonen Jump.

Lisa Simpson finds a Death Note rip-off called the "Death Tome" in the episode "Death Tome." She changes into Ryuk's doppelgänger Steve Johnson and has the book's power, matching the might of Death Note's protagonist Light Yagami.

What is drawing notice is that the clip is animated in the style of the show it is parodying. Instead of going the extra mile, it could have been easier to just write a similar story.

It's quite a sight to see The Simpsons in this extremely stylish setting. Given the great production quality, it must have been rather expensive to create. You have to admire the bit's level of dedication.
