Paneer chunks are marinated with spices and curd and grilled in a tandoor or tawa to prepare this popular paneer recipe. For those who prefer paneer or who do not eat meat, this dish has been modified from the well-known chicken tikka version. This is a popular vegetarian starter or appetizer recipe that is popular in India and also in Southeast Asian countries.

Basically, this recipe is in the dry version, which is served as a party starter. However, the gravy version of Paneer Masala Tikka is also extremely popular and is served with roti and chapati. I have already shared the gravy version of this recipe and I wanted to share the dry version in a more economical way, i.e., on tawa.

Surely it cannot match the moist result of tikka cooked in an earthen pan or tandoor. But this recipe is for those who want to satisfy their craving for tikka in the most economical way in their kitchen. Being a huge fan of paneer and tikka recipes, I prepare this way quite often. I also tried to prepare dry paneer tikka in the normal baking oven.

However, I always come back to my tawa because of the smoky flavor it gives. Furthermore, some crucial advice and suggestions for the best dry paneer tikka recipe
Firstly, I have used homemade paneer chunks for this recipe and I made sure to prepare it on a tough aspect. This is because the cheese can come off during marinating and grilling. Alternatively, you can use store-bought cottage cheese and ask your grocer for a little harder cheese.

Furthermore, I have added gram flour to the curd and spice mixture so that the gravy becomes thick and sticky and sticks to the vegetables and paneer cubes easily.

Last but not least, don’t overload the skewers with paneer and vegetables, and keep it to 2-3 paneer chunks per skewer. Finally, I would like to highlight my other paneer recipe collection from my blog.
These include Paneer Jalfrezi, Paneer Butter Masala, Kadai Paneer, Palak Paneer, Malai Paneer Kofta, Matar Paneer, Chilli Paneer, Paneer Manchurian, and Paneer Fried Rice. Also, visit my other recipe collections.
